Holy shit. I need to take a moment to pat myself

Holy shit.
I need to take a moment to pat myself on the back for going through something really freaking hard and not totally loosing myself in it like normal.

It didn’t make it easy for sure but it didn’t make it harder.

I stopped resisting, I dropped the rope, I took a different option. I watered myself home.

MUDITA is JOY for the happiness of others, which is definitely not always a reflex….

How we feel about ourselves, our sense of worthiness vs our sense of lack comes into play.

To the extent I believe that I am, that we are separate from one another, then comparison arises naturally. The I, me, mine mentality that is bred from a competitive society….

But if I can only experience happiness when good things happen to me, then I am horrible limited as there are BILLIONS of beings in the world to which I could allow my heart to expand for….

Mudita is an antidote to envy, a salve for separateness and a delicious way to weave into and celebrate our shared humanity by rooting for each other rather than weighing against.

And the big ask is that we CULTIVATE this quality. That we practice extending our care not only for pain others endure but also care about their wins….and not only to those already in our selective good graces but can we incrementally expand our that capacity towards wider relationships? Not only on the breezy days but on the challenging ones? A sense of joy in spite of…a sense of generosity though you’ve “considered all the facts”. Joy gets to live along side the pain points of life. It’s both, and.

Ahhhhh and you? What is your personal relationship to joy? Do you allow yourself to receive it? To welcome it? So many angles and inquires to the potent nugget… to wrap, a reminder to let it in, because as Mary Oliver says, “joy is not meant to be a crumb.
