embodied yoga | eco-somatics | hiking
A gathering into body, land, and relationship with the many selves we contain and the living world we belong to.
Emotions, moods, memories, impulses, protective parts, tender parts, contradictions and desires—all moving and changing within the microcosm of the body. Even at the cellular level, what we call self is a vast multiplicity: cells, bacteria, organisms and ancient biological relationships continually collaborating to create this temporary experience of being “me.” We are less singular than we imagine.
Over these days together, held high in the San Juan mountains, we’ll turn toward this rich interiority and learn to listen to the many parts, sensations and shifting terrains within. We’ll explore what becomes possible when we make room for contradiction and complexity, allowing ourselves to embody multiple hues.
And our exploration won’t end at the borders of the skin:
Through eco-somatic practice, time on the land, hiking, movement and sensory exploration, we’ll widen our attention to the larger body we are already participating in. We’ll listen with more than our ears, feel with more than our hands, and practice noticing the web of relationship continually moving between body, earth, weather, plants, animals and place.
The diversity of the living world can become a companion for understanding the diversity within us. A landscape holds decay and emergence, stillness and movement, competition and cooperation, beauty and disorder all at once.
Perhaps our own inner wilderness asks for something similar.

BAYO AKOMOLAFE
Eco – Mountain Sanctuary
Held in the big-sky backcountry of Telluride, Colorado, in the San Juan Mountains, our hike-in eco-sanctuary sits at 11,000 feet, offering a rare chance to fully immerse in this pristine and rugged landscape.
Completely off-grid and free from cell service and Wi-Fi, this is a true backcountry experience. Amenities are simple—composting toilets and limited showers—balanced by some lovely creature comforts: a hot tub, sauna, cozy cabin spaces, fires, incredible mountain views, and a private chef preparing delicious meals.
A chance to unplug, traverse wild terrain, and settle into the spaciousness and presence arrives when there is nowhere else to be.
What to Expect
Our journey begins with a moderate 2.5-mile hike into the lodge at 11,000 feet. Each day, we’ll spend approximately 3–5 hours on wilderness trails. The terrain is moderate, but the altitude can make hiking more challenging, so we’ll move at a steady, spacious pace with plenty of time for rest and snacks.
We strongly recommend arriving in the area a day or two early to acclimate. And if your body needs a day off, you’re always welcome to stay back at the lodge and enjoy the hot tub, sauna, and stillness of the mountains.
